What is Cupping Therapy?
Cupping Therapy is also known as “Fire Cupping”. Cupping Therapy is one of the ancient oriental techniques belong to Traditional Chinese Medicine which has a history of more than two thousand years. It provides unique healing function and pleasant experience. Cupping Therapy utilizes treatment methods by which a local suction is created on the skin. Practitioners believe this mobilizes blood flow in order to promote healing. Suction is created using heat (fire) or mechanical devices (hand or electrical pumps). The cups can be made of a variety of materials, including: Glass, Bamboo, and Earthenware. Cupping Therapy includes singer-cup cupping, multi-cup cupping, quick cupping, retaining cupping, moving cupping, medicinal cupping (herb cupping), acupuncture with cupping, pricking blood with cupping.
How dose Cupping Therapy work?
The cup caused by negative pressure, can be tightly sucked up on the surface of the skin. It can pull the nerves, muscles, blood vessels and subcutaneous glandular, causeing a series of neuroendocrine responses, adjusting blood vessel’s relaxation and shrinkage function, improving local blood circulation.
Negative pressure effect can cause some locally hyperemia, congestion, even capillaries burst, red blood cell destruction, and hemolysis occurs. The release of hemoglobin in red blood cells is a benign stimulation to the body. It can provide a two-direction adjustment through the nerve system to heal the tissue and organ. It can also promote phagocytosis of white blood celland enhance the body’s immune system. The negative pressure from the suction cup can make sweat pores fully open, the function of the sweat glands and sebaceous glands are stimulated and strengthened, therefore accelerate the de-toxin from inside out.
Local warming effects not only expand blood vessels, blood flow, also enhance the permeability of blood vessels and the phagocytosis of cells. In cupping area, the change of vascular tone and mucous membrane permeability, the accelerated lymph circulation , the strengthened phagocytosis, will form an environment with enhanced immune function.
