Learning Chinese Calligraphy with acclaimed local artist Mike Mei. The 7-session class will cover the following content:
1)learning the structure of inscription on bones and turtle shells.
2) learning basic strokes in the brush.
3) Try to write some characters in seal script.

Tools: pencils, papers, brush, and ink later.

About the Instructor:

Mike Mei
President, Chinese American Fine Arts Society
Honorary President, North America Chinese Calligraphy & Painting Association

Mei has presented more than 25 solo shows including at Harvard University and in New York, Chicago, and Beijing, among other cities. His artworks Dragon, The Blue Waves are Rippling, Quiet to See All, and others are in the collections of the Worcester Art Museum and Peabody Essex Museum. Mei has delivered courses and lectures at Wellesley College, MIT, and other schools throughout New England. To celebrate the Millennium 2000, Mayor Raymond Flynn invited Mei to write a tablet of calligraphy to be displayed at the gateway of Boston’s Chinatown. Mei’s publications include calendars and books of calligraphy and poems.
